Co-Founder of Fantastic Services, Rune Sovndahl, gave a heartfelt interview in Financial Times in October.

Rune opened up about his early interest in coding as a young child and his almost successful five business ventures: a mobile comparison site and an online music school. Fascinated by how things work, Rune’s sixth venture turned out to be a great success, with turnover going from £800,000 in 2010 to £9.5m in 2020.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Rune, together with his Fantastic Team, was able to turn crisis into opportunity by quickly adapting to the new normal and focusing on the services that mattered at those times, such as removals and handyman services. Rune shares the secret behind Fantastic Services’ resilience and success during these critical times, being the variety of property management services the company offers and the company’s flexibility.

Rune also talked about the challenges faced by the company with finding the right volume of staff members and how the company overcame them by offering the £1m grant scheme. The scheme included 200 grants of up to £5,000 each to help people start their franchise and incentivise recruits to become part of the Fantastic Services family.

The Co-Founder of Fantastic Services also opened up about their humble starts and the overwhelming feeling of seeing his first million in their bank account back in 2019. He also shared his emotions on the Covid-19 pandemic and how the company had to act quickly to adapt to these unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances. Instead of stepping back and waiting, Fantastic Services invested over £150,000 in retraining over 200 franchisees, who were left with no jobs. They quickly adapted to the changes and started delivering new services, such as antiviral sanitation and disinfection procedures in commercial premises.
